La Terre Penchée

Jura

La Terre Penchée, (‘the tilt of the earth’), is the project of Étienne Gasnier and his and his partner Margaux Dermine. In 2022, after working at Les Marnes Blanches and Domaine Labet, the pair started their own domaine in the village of Augea. Based in the south part of Jura (Sud-Revemont), they work with 4 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in Cesancey, Beaufort and Vincelles, including an old vine parcel in the iconic ‘En Billat’ vineyard, made famous by Ganevat. The En Billat (sometimes called Grusse En Billat) are the vines next to the road that connects the villages of Grusse and Cesancey with most of the vines facing south-west on limestone rich marl soils.

Éttiene and Margeaux have also purchased vines in the Les Clous vineyard (Vincelles), previously owned by our good friend Henri Le Roy, the south facing slope looking over the village produces some of the best Savagnin and Poulsard in the region, including a few rows of a very rare clone of Savagnin called Savagnin Muscaté, of which there is only 1ha in the world.

The La Terre Penchée wines are expressive, textural and pristine and extremely well crafted for a first vintage. They are sure to delight and surprise lovers of rare, topped up Jura whites from the Sud-Revermont.
